Instagram released the feature of video chat with up to four people in a group earlier this summer, Instagram is now looking to improve this feature and make it for up to six people.

You can access this Instagram feature through Instagram direct messages. It is specifically developed for users who want to discuss what they see on their Instagram feed as they can by simply minimizing the video chat and continuing the scroll on Instagram, send messages and photos in Direct, Posts, Stories etc.

Following the success of this feature, Instagram is now increasing the maximum number of people in a group video chat up to six people.

To have access to this feature your Instagram app should be updated to its latest version found in the App Store or Google Play Store. You would be then able to enjoy this feature. Tap the Direct icon in the top right corner of Feed, or swipe right into your Direct inbox. Then tap a username or group name to open the conversation. Their phones will ring as a result. And at the last tap, the video camera icon in the top right corner, the person or group you call will receive a notification that you’re video calling them.

You can video chat with anyone you’ve accepted a DM from. If you don’t want to video chat with someone you can simply block or mute them.
